Retaining wall reinforcement method using hydraulic jack-up and on-line monitoring of beam deformation

Introduction

Figure 1 shows the collapse of earth soil when excavated soil can not endure its weight. For this, retaining wall is needed. There are many construction methods for the retaining walls like 'Rose method' and 'Raker method'.

Research Territories

We propose a novel retaining wall system. The proposed system is shown in Figure 2. The most important advantage of this method is securing

more space for building construction than conventional approaches. The existing methods have difficulties in the building construction because of cramped retaining walls, where vertical struts interrupt lifting construction materials up/down. The new method requires the minimum number of vertical struts in it, which is a great advantage.

Progress monitoring is useful because direct and prompt reaction is possible when an unusual situation happens. User can control the desired system away from the construction site with the process monitoring system developed herein.

The system consists of measurement system, main control system, hydraulic control system, and GUI as shown in Fig. 3. The measurement system includes the sensors such as strand meters, strain gages, pressure gages, etc. The main control system integrates all the components including the sensors, hydraulic control, etc., together with GUI.
